We are always happy to provide estimates to replace your standing rigging and can give you a very accurate quote for the rigging itself (forestay, backstay, shrouds, etc.), but it is often difficult to anticipate issues that we will encounter once we pull a mast. These spreaders looked good to the owner. The corrosion was well hidden under tape. But once we pulled the rig and the tape was removed, the spreaders literally turned to dust in our hands. Now we face a much bigger challenge and, unfortunately, cannot re-step the mast until it is addressed. We are very happy that the customer came to us for maintenance before these spreaders failed completely.
Be wary of tape! It traps moisture and causes corrosion that is wrapped in a nice looking package.
