Vectran Line

run-Yale-ChrystalyneVectran- a Liquid Crystal Polymer fiber is another gold color line that is very popular for the low stretch applications on the boat. This fiber is very low stretch, and has a high breaking strength, low creep and is good in tight bends and good chafe resistance. This fiber is very popular for control lines and lines requiring extremely low stretch such as halyards, sheets, guys and even standing rigging. It has an excellent track history and is used on many boats. Examples of cordage containing Vectran: Validator II, Challenge Braid, Crystalyne, Vectrus, Vizzion.

Vectran is an alternative to Dyneema. It has less stretch and creep than Dyneema. Many think Vectran is the ultimate fiber, though it does not have quite the fatigue life or UV resistance of Dyneema. Also it is a little heavier and will not float.
